You are now leaving Twin Peaks, population 51,201

Twin-Peaks-logoTomorrow is the last day for my Microbiology class this Spring.

We’ll be having our last exam -on immunology- and moving on to greener pastures. I hope my students have learned something from the experience and will perhaps also be open to the joys of Slow-Moving Supernatural TV Dramas and Bad Horror Flicks.

As I’ve been hinting at lately, perhaps next semester I can move on to revisiting Northern Exposure – something to think about if you’re considering taking my pathophysiology class this summer.

By the way, Sunday is Mother’s Day. Take a moment to remember all the great mothers out there…

I heard you speaking about Laura Palmer…

Unknown… One day, my Log will have something to say about this.

As Soren Kierkegaard tells us,

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Agent Cooper knows this well and is therefore perfectly positioned to solve the case of Laura Palmer.

Although, even Coop has to confront doubt once in a while.

By the way, now that you’ve learned to love Twin Peaks, You might also want to try Lynch’s other series, the much more approachable, Northern Exposure.

A damn fine cup of coffee

I was looking through my next lecture for Microbiology (which I realize I still need to post online) and was reminded of an older post that I made pointing to a virtual lab on streak plating of bacteria.

I recommend my students check that out if they have not plated bacterial cultures in the past. You can find that post here.

Also, as always this time of year, I like to reflect on some of the great pleasures of life. And, because these things often become conversations in my classes, I’d like to share a short video that couples two of my favorite things: Coffee and Twin Peaks
